Feb 9, 2021
My neighbor sent me a photo of her mom in the the front yard in the spring and it made me eager for spring to get here soon. February is usually when I’m pretty much over the winter and although the fresh snow is lovely and calming, I’m ready for some color around here. The millstone in the photo is still out front and is very historic. It has been here hundreds of years dating back to before the house was built and there was an old mill here. Supposedly, you can see more old foundations if you walk along the brook. Even more things to explore around here.
We have all our things in the house now. The last day, I stood in the window like a creepy farmhouse ghost, waiting for Tyler and Calvin to get back. Mostly everything is still in boxes but we are slowly moving things in their place. Hopefully sooner rather than later because I’m tired of navigating around boxes and excited for renovating. We are still waiting for internet here. They are apparently as fast putting internet in as they are selling houses around here. We ordered it a month ago and are still waiting. We’ve been using our phones as hotspots for online school and work but we’ve used it all up.
We are still waiting on our microwave and mop. Apparently getting older, for us, means hanging out by the door until 9pm, anxiously waiting to see if our new microwave and mop finally arrives. It’s been “out for delivery” since Friday. And now we’ve added out toaster to the mix which was also “out for delivery” yesterday. Food prep will be a ton easier once we get those so whenever ups decides to grace us with their presence, we will be ready for them. Not sure if they are short staffed due to covid or if this is just how it is living in rural Vermont. But changes are good and come with sacrifices and as I always say, “you can get used to pretty much anything”
