RV memoirs: waking up to winter

Nov 26, 2020

Yesterday we woke to our first Vermont snow! A layer of white and poof! Vermont turned into a winter wonderland. The colder it gets, the more our cats start to cuddle. Which, for two cats who really can’t stand being near each other, this is pretty impressive.

We took a trip over to eastern Vermont to look at a cluster of houses over there. 4 houses in and we discovered the house we are ready to put money down on! It’s about 18 min north of the town of Woodstock which is by far the cutest town I think I’ve ever seen. My voice went up an octave when I saw all the Norman rockwell-esque Christmas decorations.

The house is a 1940s farmhouse placed on just under 16 acres of forest land with a beautiful brook running through it. Fruit trees and bushes are scattered around the land as well as per rental flowers. An old dairy barn sits next to it which has been converted into a small apartment and a recording studio. It’s has a good mix of historic architecture and modern upgrades. The house itself will need some love to ditch some old school styling but I think it will be fun to work in. It has a screen porch, porch swing, and an amazing glass sunroom. And just enough quirk and character for us. Although I would have loved to show my dad because I know he would have absolutely loved it and have been so proud of our choice. I know he was watching, guiding us with our hunt.

To end the evening I had a lovely socially distanced drop by from the only people I know in Vermon! It was lovely to see a familiar face and the dropped off goodies which made it even better!

Now to celebrate thanksgiving! And a super unique one at that. I am thankful that even though the past month has been crazy and strange, I have a roof over my head, our health, warmth, and good company! Here’s to new memories and adventures!
