RV memoirs: highlights from the Shelburne town news.

Nov 28, 2020 Not much to report. Waiting for the agent at the house to get back to us so we can make our offer on the house but apparently he isn’t as eager to sell as we are to buy. And the wait is making my days looooooooong. Instead, I’m going to leave you with some fun highlights I found in our town news this week. Including some resourceful recipe to try. Doing my part to keep you busy during the long winter! You’re welcome! Also, we may or may not be changing our family name to Winklewhiffer. #embracingthevermont

RV memoirs: Happy Glampsgiving!

Nov 27, 2020 I have to admit, I wasn’t looking forward to thanksgiving in a RV before we left Utah. I had complained to Tyler about how terrible it would be, how emotionally unhealthy it would be for the kids to have a holiday that different from our usual, how I couldn’t even bake a turkey without an oven! But yesterday reminded me what holidays really are. They aren’t about age old traditions. They aren’t an excuse to do the same old thing you do year after year. That’s not what makes holidays special. In fact, they are quite the opposite.

RV memoirs: waking up to winter

Nov 26, 2020 Yesterday we woke to our first Vermont snow! A layer of white and poof! Vermont turned into a winter wonderland. The colder it gets, the more our cats start to cuddle. Which, for two cats who really can’t stand being near each other, this is pretty impressive.   We took a trip over to eastern Vermont to look at a cluster of houses over there. 4 houses in and we discovered the house we are ready to put money down on! It’s about 18 min north of the town of Woodstock which is by far the cutest town

RV memoirs: the hunt is on!

Nov 24, 2020 We have officially started house hunting! Although we’ve only seen about 4 houses now as some have gone under contract, some have decided to wait to sell, and some are worried about covid so don’t want people in their house, we’ve at least started. One realtor was very helpful, the other seriously lacked in the personality area and we got a real “I don’t want to be doing this” vibe from her. We have a new agent lined up for tomorrow who actually appears to be eager to work with us to look at several houses. Fingers

RV Memoirs: One Day At A Time

Nov 21, 2020 Sorry it’s been awhile. I’ve been grieving my dad which is incredibly difficult when you are living in the same room as everyone. But the more I keep busy the easier it gets. We are officially all out of quarantine. Tyler got his results back on day 14 which made testing to get out a week early completely pointless. But it was negative and we are in the clear. Still staying very safe and away from as many people as possible to keep the spread down. Yesterday I discovered a hidden trail through the woods that connected the north

Week 5: Things Don’t Go As Planned

Nov 13, 2020 Day 7 & 8 of RV quarantine: things fall into place. Wednesday we got our first taste of rain in Vermont. And the RV held it together so we are calling that a win! We still got our morning walk in despite some drizzle but we had to get creative with class work because either the weather was effecting the internet or everyone was inside browsing causing it to slow down. Campsite internet is nice but only to an extent. Yesterday we got the call that our car was in town! They brought it right inside the campsite and

Week 4: The start of quarantine

Nov 6, 2020 RV quarantine Day 1: making possibilities happen I’m gonna say this now. RV living is going to take some getting used to but it’s not impossible. First off, as far as quarantine goes, at the campsite, we must stay on our site with the exception of dumping garbage, and a designated walking path for walking dogs, kids, or recreation. No laundry or showers or bathrooms. So it’s a good thing we planned ahead for that. We are allowed essential travel which pretty much is limited to medical needs, groceries, getting mail and going to work if your work is

Week 3: Off to Vermont

Oct 31, 2020 We almost made it. It was close. We left the house even. And then realized there was a crack in our RV water tank. So our adventure has taken us here. Chilling at the RV place with our cats. Still in Utah. 3 hours later… Finally on the road! We won’t get far out of Utah tonight but are adventure has begun! As a teenager, I was fascinated with stories of people on the Oregon trail. I read numerous diaries written by women on the trail, wanting to know what it was like to just pick up and

Week 2: It’s time to move!

Oct 26, 2020 As soon as I walked outside, only to find a man face timing me walking out of my house, I realized selling a house has entered some really bizarre times.#YepIStillLiveHere Oct 27, 2020 Behold! The pod has arrived!Moving process has officially begun. The good news is, we didn’t die! But it was close. Google and the professionals make it look way easier than it is! I’m not gonna lie, as soon as we got it on and realized our plan wasn’t going to work, I almost just let her go! It was every man for himself but

Week 1: Making it happen!

Oct 17, 2020 Watch out world! The LaGranges are officially RV owners! Meet our home away from home, “The Happy Glamper”! Oct 20, 2020 Completed our first RV mission: cooking a meal. We did this at home as a test run. Burritos accomplished and only set off the fire alarm once! Oct 22, 2020 I’ve been holding onto this secret for a very long time. Which has been hard because I don’t secret well. But to be honest, until today we didn’t really know if it was going to happen. Or any of the details of how it was going
